Registration Calendar

There are three registration periods in the fall, spring and summer terms. What you can do in each period varies.

Registration-by-Appointment – By appointment only

  • Eligible students may use self-service registration to add, drop or swap classes and change the basis of grading.
  • NEW for Spring 2017!
    • Wait listing for closed classes begins on the first day of registration, 7 wait-listed units maximum.
    • Students in good standing may enroll in 16 units maximum as soon as registration begins.
  • Registration in repeated courses is not permitted until later.

Nonrestrictive Registration – No appointment is necessary

  • Access to online, self-service registration continues.
  • Wait listing for closed classes continues.
  • Enrolling in repeated courses is permitted beginning with the date specified in the calendars below.

Late Registration/Schedule Adjustment – Starts the first weekday of classes

  • You may continue to add, drop, or swap classes and change the grading basis of a class online.
    • Week 1: Wait listing continues. Permission is not required to add classes except for restricted classes.
    • Weeks 2 & 3: Wait listing is not available. Permission is required to add all classes.
  • Registration in repeated courses is permitted.  
  • Access to online self-service registration ends at 11:59 pm the third Friday of fall or spring classes.

**Withdrawals in Weeks 5-12 are normally not permitted and rarely approved in Weeks 13-17. In both cases, extraordinary circumstances only are considered.

**When instruction for the term begins on Monday, August 29, a $25 late fee is charged to add classes if you are currently not enrolled in any units.

Summer Term 2017

Most Summer Classes

The majority of summer classes are offered through the Tseng College (extended learning). Different rules, deadlines and fees may apply to students enrolling in summer courses through the Tseng College. Learn more at http://summer.csun.edu.

STAY RIGHT HERE and use the guidelines in this Summer Term Registration Calendar if you are admitted to one of the special year-round cohort programs listed below.

Special Year-Round Cohort Programs

You may enroll in summer classes that are part of a special cohort program if you're eligible—that is, you have been formally admitted to the cohort program.

The year-round cohort programs offering summer courses are:

  1. Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (A-BSN)
  2. Master of Social Work (MSW)
  3. Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.)
  4. Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.)

Permission numbers are required to enroll in all Summer 2017 special year-round cohort courses at all times.  Please contact your program advisor for assistance.

How to Register

Eligible, matriculated CSUN students should:

  1. First obtain a registration appointment on a first-to-arrive basis.
  2. Then enroll in classes during the Registration-by-Appointment period and thereafter.

Class Search

Look up year-round cohort classes in Class Search. No login is required. Select the following options from the search field drop-down menus:

  • Term: "2175 - Summer Term 2017"
  • Session: "Year-Round Cohort Courses"
  • Subject/Department: Select your cohort program.
  • Click the Quick Search button.

If you're also taking credit classes outside of the year-round cohort programs listed above, select "The Tseng College - Credit" from the Class Search drop-down menu "Session" field.

For important information regarding Summer 2017 tuition fees and mandatory campus fees for state-supported cohort programs only, including the Fee Payment Schedule*, see University Cash Services.**

*If you fail to make your payment in full by the due date, you will be disenrolled from some or all of your classes. Payments made after the deadline will not prevent you from disenrollment.

**A $25.00 late fee is charged to register starting the first day of a summer session if you have zero units at the time of registration. The late fee will only be charged once during the entire summer term.
