Registration Calendar

There are three registration periods in the fall, spring and summer terms.

  • Registration-by-Appointment: By appointment only.
  • Nonrestrictive Registration: No appointment necessary.
  • Late Registration / Schedule Adjustment: Starts the first weekday of classes.

What you can do in each period varies. For an overview, see Registration Periods. Find dates by term below.

  • Permission is not required to add classes except for restricted classes.

  • To add a class, request a permission number from the instructor and enroll using self-service registration.***
  • To drop classes or change grading basis, request approval using the appropriate Late Schedule Change form(s).
Feb. 16 to April 17**

Weeks 13 and Beyond: ALL STUDENTS

Schedule changes in Week 13 and thereafter are not permitted except for serious and compelling circumstances. Please refer to Late Schedule Changes.

April 20 to May 22 and beyond**

*Repeating courses is permitted.  Maximum load: 18 units (16 units for grad students). For exceptions, see Enrollment Limits.

**Withdrawals in Weeks 5 to 12 are normally not permitted and rarely approved in Week 13 or thereafter. In both cases, only serious and compelling reasons are considered.

Tuition and Other Fees | Payment Deadlines

— Payment Due Date: Monday, Jan. 13, 2025. There is only one payment deadline for the semester. After that, payment is due at the time of registration.*

— Installment Payment Plan * 

Refund Information and Setting Up Direct Deposit. The last day for a partial refund (drop in units below 6.1) is Friday, Feb. 6, 2026.

*If you fail to pay in full by the payment due date, or you miss the required Installment Payment Plan due dates and times, you may be disenrolled from some or all of your classes. 

  • Any payments made AFTER the deadline will NOT prevent disenrollment. After disenrollment, course availability is not guaranteed.
  • If you are disenrolled and decide not to attend CSUN, you must officially drop your classes. Failure to follow formal withdrawal procedures will result in an obligation to pay fees and failing grades.

**The 2025-2026 Financial Aid application period began late and was extended due to the fires. The usual, earlier deadlines will resume for the coming 2026-2027 academic year: FAFSA opens Oct. 1, 2025, and the priority deadline is March 2.

Summer Term 2026

Summer 2026 Highlights

  1. Summer 2026 classes begin Tuesday, May 26, 2026, the day after Memorial Day.
  2. Summer Term is offered on a state-support basis. Visit Summer Term Tuition & Fees.
  3. Visiting students may enroll in CSUN summer classes through the Tseng College Open University.
  4. Wait-listing for closed classes will be shorter, but you can add with permission for a longer time.

STAY RIGHT HERE and use the dates in this state-support Summer Term Registration Calendar if you are:

  • A matriculated CSUN student, that is, you are enrolled in a CSUN degree or certificate program.*
  • Admitted to one of the special state-supported, year-round cohort programs listed below.
  • A CSUN student who has received the SPRINT Grant (Summer PRogress INcluding Tuition). SPRINT students will be notified via CSUN Gmail of their eligibility to enroll and in which classes. Learn more at CSUN SPRINT Grant.
  • An applicant for the fall semester and pending an admission decision.*

*Note that first-time freshmen are typically not permitted to enroll in summer courses prior to their term of admission. They must also meet with their freshman academic advisor before enrolling.

Special Year-Round Cohort Programs

You are eligible to enroll in summer classes that are part of a special year-round cohort program if you have been formally admitted to the program. The cohort programs offering summer courses are:

  1. Associate Degree in Nursing to BS in Nursing (ADN to BSN Community College Collaboratives)
  2. Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT)
  3. Master of Social Work (MSW)
  4. Doctoral Program in Audiology (AuD)
  5. Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership (EdD)
  6. Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy (DPT)

Permission numbers are required to enroll in summer special year-round cohort courses at all times. Please check with your program advisor.

How to Register

As an eligible, matriculated CSUN student, you should:

  1. First obtain your own registration appointment on a first-come, first-served basis.
  2. Then enroll in classes during the Registration-by-Appointment period and after.
  3. Maximum unit load: 13 units for all summer sessions combined.

NEW FOR SUMMER 2026:

Wait-listing continues through the first Sunday of instruction for each summer session. When wait-listing ends, permission numbers are required to add classes. The last day to drop online is the second Friday of classes for each session.*

*If you fail to make your payment in full by the payment deadlines, you may be disenrolled from some or all of your classes. Any payments made AFTER the deadline dates will NOT prevent disenrollment. Winter Term 2026

Winter Term 2026 offers regular CSUN courses fully online through CSUN's Tseng College of Extended Learning. Courses are offered on a self-support basis at a per-unit fee.

Winter Session Highlights

  • Complete coursework at an accelerated pace.
  • Earn up to four transferable units.
  • No registration appointment is required.
  • Classes are held fully online; there are no set meeting days and times. No trips to campus are required.

Important Winter Session Dates

  • Winter term enrollment begins Oct. 7, 2025 for CSUN students.
