Graduate Student Enrollment
Fall 2025
Sat.-only and Fri.-Sat. classes begin Aug. 23.
Weekday classes begin Aug. 25.
If you are seeking a master’s degree, doctorate or education credential, ask your graduate program coordinator if there are any outstanding requirements to meet to complete your admission process. Remember, you’re not only meeting CSUN admission requirements but also those for your individual program.
Your program coordinator and the Office of Graduate Studies are here to provide you with wise counsel as you embark on your academic journey. Let’s get started!
- Ensure you’ve completed all the steps to finalize your admission. Log in to the CSUN Portal to review your Checklist, and visit admitted graduate students for a checklist.
- Schedule an appointment for academic advisement with your graduate program coordinator. Please refer to the next row.
- Before your appointment, you may want to explore these resources to plan questions:
- Your graduate program description in the University Catalog
- Graduate Studies policies and procedures
- Graduate Student Handbook
- Be sure to check out the Graduate Resource and Academic Development (GRAD) Center for dozens of exciting opportunities and services!
- Your graduate program description in the University Catalog
- Attend New Graduate Student Orientation in person, on Zoom or online to discover events, funding opportunities, thesis/dissertation information, graduate evaluations and more.
- Planning your class schedule, even around work hours, is fast and easy with CSUN’s degree planning tools. Refer to “Plan Your Degree” on this page.
Important!
Before enrolling, you must complete the Title IX "Not Anymore" online video course. This and all other registration holds will block your class enrollment until you clear them.
Schedule an advising appointment with your graduate program coordinator, whose name and contact information appear in the University Catalog at:
If you are a member of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community, be sure to review NCOD advisement.
CSUN’s degree planning tools are designed to help you select the right courses at the right time, streamlining your path to graduation.
- Degree Progress Report (DPR): Provides a full picture, or audit, of your progress toward completion of degree requirements. Check the placement of your transfer coursework in meeting CSUN degree requirements. Find the DPR guide and other tutorials.
- Registration Planner: Generates all possible class schedules in seconds! Just select desired courses and break times and let the app do the work. Planning your schedule, even around work hours, is fast and easy with Registration Planner (login required). Visit How to Use Registration Planner.
Within the Office of Graduate Studies, Graduate Evaluations will assist you with your student record, your DPR, applying for graduation, and Electronic Thesis Dissertation (ETD) submission.
It’s best practice to take a few ordered steps before registration begins each semester. Besides clearing any registration holds, you’ll want to:
- Check your CSUN email for a registration notice several weeks before enrollment begins.
- Log in to the CSUN Portal to review your checklist (guide) for any incomplete tasks.
- Look for your enrollment appointment in your portal checklist. This is the earliest date and time you can start enrolling.
