Therapy for a Sweet Dream

Therapy for a Sweet Dream explores the disruption of sleep in a dysfunctional world plagued by murder, impunity, and corruption. Taking as a point of departure the popular belief that counting sheep induces sleep, this video installation invites the viewer to count, instead of sheep, former members of the Mara Salvatrucha gang (MS13) as they jump over a fence. Prof. Wei Cao is a Professor of History at Shaanxi Normal University (which is one of CSUN’s first partner universities in China) and the Chief Curator of Emperor QinShiHuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum (also known as Terracotta Warriors Museum). Prof. Cao is one of the leading experts on Chinese archeology, and has published numerous books and articles. Read more
