Application deadlines

SPRING 2027

The application opens July 1, 2026 only for athletes, veterans and international freshman applicants. Closing dates may vary.

FALL 2027

Apply from Aug. 1, 2026 to May 15, 2027, with the following exceptions for the three impacted majors, which close earlier:

• Jan. 15, 2027: Music – All options
• Jan. 31, 2027: Cinema and Television Arts – Film Production option
• Jan. 31, 2027: Cinema and Television Arts – Television Production option

NOTE: Athletes, veterans and international applicants may have different fall application deadlines.

Final high school transcript deadline

• Fall applicants: July 15

Intent to Enroll

• Fall applicants: May 1. If admitted after May 1, submit intent within two weeks of your admission date.

Application deadlines

NOTE: Athletes, veterans and international transfer applicants may have different application deadlines.

SPRING 2027

• Apply from July 1 to Oct. 15, 2026. 
• Open to all transfer applicants.

FALL 2027

• Apply from Aug. 1, 2026 to May 15, 2027. 
• Open to all transfer applicants.
• A few majors will close earlier.*

*The majors listed in the table below will close earlier due to high demand.

Preliminary transcript due date

• Fall applicants: Feb. 15
• Spring applicants: Oct. 1. If applying between Oct. 1 and 15, submit preliminary transcripts as soon as possible.

Final transcript due date

• Fall applicants: July 15
• Spring applicants: Jan. 15

Test Scores

Optional AP, CLEP or IB test scores are due as soon as possible but no later than:

• Fall applicants: July 15
• Spring applicants: Jan. 15

To order test scores, visit:

• Advanced Placement (AP): Use CSUN college code 4707.

• College Level Exam Program (CLEP): Use CSUN college code 4707.

• International Baccalaureate (IB): Request a paper transcript.

Intent to Enroll

• Fall applicants: May 1. If admitted after May 1, submit intent within two weeks of your admission date.

• Spring applicants: Nov. 1. If admitted after Nov. 1, submit intent within two weeks of your admission date.

CSU Fully Online

• Spring 2026 semester: Jan. 5 to 23, 2026

The Cal State Apply application to CSUN is available as follows:

• FALL semester admission: Aug. 1 to July 1*
• SPRING semester admission: July 1 to Dec. 1*

*Important Credential Program Notes

• Two applications are often required — one to the university and another to the individual credential program.

• Application filing periods for individual credential programs may differ from the Cal State Apply dates above. Check for exceptions at Credential Office: How to Apply and with the Cal State Apply Application Dates & Deadlines search tool.

• If the program is closed, do not complete the university application; contact the Credential Office for guidance.

CSU Fully Online

• Spring 2026 semester: Jan. 5 to 23, 2026
• Fall 2026 semester: Aug. 10 to 28, 2026

Intrasystem Concurrent Enrollment

• Fall and spring semesters: You must file the Intrasystem Concurrent Enrollment application form before the closing date set by the individual graduate program.

Returning undergraduate students

If you left CSUN in good academic standing or on academic notice, do not submit a new Cal State Apply application. Instead, complete our Welcome Back Form during the following dates:

• Fall semester admission: Aug. 1 to July 15* 
• Spring semester admission: July 1 to Oct. 15*

Returning undergraduate students who were previously disqualified

You can now request readmission using the Welcome Back Form during these dates:

• Spring 2027 admission: July 1 to Oct. 15, 2026*
• Fall 2027 admission: Aug. 1, 2026 to Feb. 15, 2027*

Returning graduate student application deadlines

• Returning graduate students: Please check closing dates for individual graduate programs in the Cal State Apply Application Dates & Deadlines search tool and on the individual program website.

If you are a post-baccalaureate student who holds a recognized bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, you may pursue a program leading to a second bachelor’s degree at CSUN in approved majors.

Apply to CSUN during the following filing periods:

• SPRING 2027 admission: Apply from July 1 to Oct. 15, 2026.

• FALL 2027 admission: Apply from Aug. 1, 2026 to May 15, 2027. Exception: The Nursing: RN to BSN option (post-licensure) will close April 15, 2027.
