Big West Preseason Power Rankings: UC Santa Barbara leads a crowded field at the top

There’s more to be said about the drama that has unfolded at Cal State Northridge than the actual play of the team. Reggie Theus’s time at CSUN ended with a physical altercation with his athletic director, which lead to hiring former NC State head coach Mark Gottfried. The team has nine freshmen, which should be interesting to watch. At least the Matadors will have Mo Williams coaching on the sideline. -- Mid Major Madness

Nurit. This is our first year. We partnered with Live Nation, US concert diversion. We were ab le to activate these scholarships for college students nationally juniors and seniors that are preparing for careers in the live entertainment business. One is for women, the other two are for either gender. There are $30,000 – three $10,000 scholarships. This year we gave one to a young man from Cal State Northridge, a young girl at the Berkee School of Music and one girl form the New School in New York. -- Vents Magazine

Remembering Sarah Tayir, Ballet Dancer and Teacher

Dr. Paula Thomson, professor of dance at California State University, Northridge, and author of "Creativity and the Performing Artist: Behind the Mask" remembers Miss Sarah as "a gifted and inspiring teacher. Every class was infused with technical accuracy and exquisite musicality. She continued the tradition and love of classical ballet for the many generations she taught." To quote Miss Sarah, "Remember to dance—it is how we express life." -- Dance Magazine

Mom-of-2 Killed in Hit and Run on Night Out as Driver Remains Loose: 'Somebody Came from Nowhere and Disappeared'

Evgeny said his wife, the mother of a 6-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter, graduated from CSU Northridge and was a master’s degree candidate, according to KTLA. She has also been described as a beauty queen, KCAL and KTTV report. -- American Superstar

Opinion: A Midterm ‘B’ for San Diego State University and its New President

The result is a dismal acquisitions budget, $100,000 less than last year. SDSU is supposed to be a research university, and yet, CSU Northridge’s book budget is $150,000 higher than ours. The same applies to San Francisco State University’s budget. So at the same time that SDSU loudly proclaims its ambition to join the “top fifty” public research universities, the library—where faculty and students go to do their research—finds its budget going backwards. A research university needs a research library, and that is not happening. -- Times of San Diego
