The 2023-24 scholarship cycle is now open. Applications must be received by 11:59 PM Pacific Time on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

We do not accept late applications, incomplete applications, or non-electronic submissions. For more information, please refer to the links within the “Additional Scholarships Resources” section.

Students who are matriculated in a degree or credential program within the Michael D. Eisner College of Education (MDECOE) department who were enrolled during the third week of classes received a CSUN e-mail on September 20, 2023 with a link to the scholarship application and RSVP information for a free writing workshop.

Please note that receiving the notification e-mail does not guarantee your eligibility to apply for scholarships. If you did not receive an e-mail and believe that you should have received one, please contact the Dean’s office at eliza.corpuz@csun.edu.

The Equity and Student Affairs Committee will be presenting a FREE scholarship writing workshop on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM via Zoom. The Michael D. Eisner College of Education (MDECOE) scholarship program annually awards scholarships to students on a competitive basis. Each fall, after the scholarships available for that year have been posted, we begin to accept applications from eligible students for award distribution during the following spring semester. In addition to the College-wide scholarship competition, each department within the Michael D. Eisner College of Education has their own scholarship and awards program. Michael D. Eisner College of Education (MDECOE) scholarships

The Michael D. Eisner College of Education (MDECOE) scholarship program annually awards scholarships to students on a competitive basis.  Each fall, after the scholarships available for that year have been posted, we begin to accept applications from eligible students for award distribution during the following spring semester.

The scholarships and sample application displayed on this site are for informational purposes only.  Depending on funding availability, specific scholarships being offered, as well as the number of available awards and/or award amounts, are subject to change from year to year.  These changes, in addition to any other program-related changes, will be reflected on our scholarship application and in an informational e-mail that we send to MDECOE students every year.

Ronald M. Adams Scholarship in Secondary Education

Available to qualified Secondary Education candidates enrolled in the Language Arts and/or World Language credential program in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.

Glenda Bensussen Memorial Scholarship

Available to qualified Multiple Subject Credential Candidates enrolled in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. The purpose of this scholarship is to financially assist a student during his/her student teaching assignment.

LaVonne Beyer Graduate Scholarship

Available to qualified Master’s Degree Candidates.  All applicants must be preparing for a career in education or school counseling.

Sylvia and David Bidna Scholarship

Available to qualified Single Subject Credential Candidates enrolled in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. All applicants must be preparing for a career in teaching secondary school humanities (Art, English, Music, World Language) or social studies (Social Science).

California Retired Teachers Association Foothill Chapter Scholarship

Available to qualified candidates enrolled in a Preliminary Multiple Subject, Preliminary Single Subject, or Preliminary Education Specialist credential program in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.

California Retired Teachers Association San Fernando Valley, Joan Berg Memorial Scholarship

Available to qualified candidates enrolled in a Preliminary Multiple Subject, Preliminary Single Subject, or Preliminary Education Specialist credential program in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.

Dan and Cindy Chernow Future Leader Scholarship

Available to a qualified Preliminary Administrative Services Credential Candidate or Pupil Personnel Services Credential Candidate enrolled in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.  

Dan and Cindy Chernow Future Teacher Scholarship

Available to qualified K-12 Credential Candidates enrolled in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.  All applicants must be preparing for a career in teaching.

DawnSignPress Lawrence Fleischer Scholarship

Available to graduating Deaf Studies seniors in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. All applicants must be preparing for a career in service to the Deaf community.

Delta Kappa Gamma Dorie Beaumont Future Teacher Scholarship

Available to a qualified K-12 teaching credential candidate in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.

Doctoral Program Scholarship

Available to a qualified Doctoral Student enrolled in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. All applicants must be enrolled in the first three academic years of the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership Program.

Carol S. Dondick Scholarship

Available to a qualified student enrolled in any credential or MA degree program offered through the Department of Elementary Education at CSUN.

Steven L. Friedman Elementary Education Scholarship

Available to a qualified student enrolled in any credential or MA degree program offered through the Department of Elementary Education at CSUN.

Ruth L. Halpert Memorial Scholarship

Available to a qualified student enrolled in any program offered through the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling at CSUN.

Lavelle Glidewell Hamel Memorial Scholarship

Available to qualified Deaf Studies majors in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. All applicants must be preparing for a career in education.

The Phil and Shirley Hansen ARF (Association of Retired Faculty) Scholarship in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education

Available to qualified students who are enrolled for both the fall and spring semesters during the same academic year in a degree or credential program in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.

Virginia L. Hansen and Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship

Available to qualified Elementary or Special Education Credential Candidates enrolled in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. The purpose of this scholarship is to financially assist a student during his/her student teaching assignment.

Virginia L. Hansen - Ruth Hansen Scholarship

Available to qualified Elementary or Special Education Credential Candidates enrolled in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize students who desire to teach in the primary grades (preferably kindergarten, first, second, and third grade).

Tina Hauck Memorial Scholarship

Available to qualified Deaf Studies majors in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. All applicants must be preparing for a career in education.

Bonnie Hightower Scholarship

Available to a qualified student enrolled in any credential or MA degree program offered through the Department of Elementary Education at CSUN.

Drs. Jay and Greg Jackson Scholarship

Available to a qualified Master’s Degree Candidate or credential student enrolled in the Educational Psychology and Counseling Department. All applicants must be preparing for a career in educational psychology or counseling.

Marilyn Joshua Williams Scholarship

Available to qualified applicants who are enrolled in the first or second semester of student teaching in a K-8 classroom.

Michel P. Laxague Memorial Scholarship

Available to qualified Deaf Studies majors in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. All applicants must be preparing for a career in education.

Mo-Goodlad Comparative Education Scholarship

Available to qualified graduate students studying Comparative Education in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.  All applicants must be engaged in a comparative education research project or course project with a Michael D. Eisner College of Education faculty member.

Harvey Nasatir Memorial Scholarship

Available to qualified Special Education Credential or Master's Candidates enrolled in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. The applicants must be preparing for a career in teaching.

Lillian Raphael Scholarship

Available to qualified K-12 Credential Candidates enrolled in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. All applicants must be preparing for a career in teaching.

Ruth Roche Memorial Scholarship

Available to a qualified student enrolled in any credential or MA degree program offered through the Department of Elementary Education at California State University Northridge.

Rebecca Schrag Memorial Scholarship

Available to qualified Early Childhood Education Graduate students seeking to become teachers and/or therapists. Students must be enrolled in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.

Lillian Paula Seitsive Scholarship

Available to qualified Special Education Credential Candidates or Deaf Studies Students enrolled in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. The purpose of this scholarship is to financially assist an appropriate teacher candidate in the field of special education including teachers of the Deaf.

Sally Spencer Memorial Scholarship

Available to qualified candidates enrolled in a Special Education Mild/Moderate credential program, or Master of Science degree program in Marriage and Family Therapy in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.

John Stillion Memorial Scholarship

Available to a qualified Special Education Master’s Degree student enrolled in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education at CSUN.

Dorothy Storer Scholarship

Available to qualified candidates pursuing a Master’s degree program in Educational Psychology and Counseling within the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.

Milt and Debbie Valera Scholarship

Available to any qualified student who is enrolled for both the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters in a degree or credential program in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.

Myrna Vallens Scholarship

Available to qualified students in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. All applicants must be preparing for a career in education.

Rhonda Sim Wasserman Memorial Scholarship

Available to students completing a credential in a traditional elementary education assignment. The purpose of this scholarship is to financially assist a student during his/her traditional student teaching assignment.

Wells Fargo Teacher Education Scholarship

Available only to applicants that apply under one of the following categories:

  • CSUN senior enrolled in the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP), Junior Option to become an elementary or special education teacher, or the Junior-Year Integrated (JYI) Program to become a secondary teacher in English or mathematics.
  • CSUN senior who wishes to pursue an English, Math, or Special Education credential through a post-baccalaureate Michael D. Eisner College of Education teacher credentialing program.

All Wells Fargo applicants must be US Citizens residing in either Los Angeles County or Ventura County.
