2026 to 2027 Registration Calendar:

  • New Student Organization registration opens Monday, August 24th, 2026
  • New Student Organization registration closes Monday, March 1st, 2027 at 11:59PM

Student Organization Requirements:

To start a new student organization must have:

  • Five (5) currently enrolled CSUN student members
  • University Advisor
  • Constitution

How to Start: Schedule your Mandatory Meeting

The first step to registering your organization is completing a mandatory New Student Organization Registration Meeting with a member of the Student Organizations Team. All meetings will be held IN-PERSON at the Matador Involvement Center with only the President of the organization. The final date to complete a New Student Organization Registration Meeting is Wednesday, February 17th, 2027.

Group New Student Organization Registration Workshops will also be provided to fulfill the mandatory meeting requirement. Please note that space is limited; and students are required to RSVP. If you are interested in attending one of the dates below, please complete the New Student Organization Registration Workshop RSVP form.

Optional New Student Organizations 2026 to 2027 Registration Information Workshop Dates:

  • Friday, August 28th, 2026 (11:00AM to 12:00PM)
  • Friday, September 4th, 2026 (2:00PM to 3:00PM)
  • Thursday, September 10th, 2026 (1:00PM to 2:00PM)
  • Tuesday, September 15th, 2026 (3:00PM to 4:00PM)
  • Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026 (11:00AM to 12:00PM)
  • Thursday, October 1st, 2026 (10:00AM to 11:00AM)

During the meeting staff will provide detailed information on the registration process including:

  • Officer requirements
  • How to draft a constitution
  • Training requirements for officers
  • How to complete the online registration form

IMPORTANT: Please do not begin working on the constitution or trainings until you have completed the mandatory New Student Organization Registration meeting.

Student Organization Registration Frequently Asked Questions

What is a university advisor?

  • A University Advisor is a faculty member or professional staff member who is an employee of the CSU or one of its auxiliaries (i.e., University Student Union, Associated Students, The University Corporation)

What are the requirements to be a president or treasurer?

  • The President and Treasurer must meet the following eligibility requirements:
    • Be in good standing (not on academic, disciplinary, or administrative probation) while holding office
    • Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and previous term GPA while holding office
  • Unit Load
  • Undergraduate students must earn a minimum of 6 semester units while holding office.
  • Graduate and credential students must earn 3 semester units per term while holding office.
  • Maximum Allowable Units
  • Undergraduate students are allowed to earn a maximum of 150 semester units or 125 percent of the units required for a specific baccalaureate degree objective, whichever is greater.
  • Graduate and credential students are allowed to earn a maximum of 50 semester units or 167 percent of the units required for graduate or credential objective, whichever is greater.

How do I create a constitution?

MIC staff can provide additional support with creating the organization’s constitution. AFTER Presidents have completed their mandatory meeting. For assistance, email micclubs@csun.edu.

How do I access the new student organization registration form?

After the president meets with a staff member to discuss the new organization, the registration link will be provided to the President.

What are the required trainings?

As part of the registration process, the President and Treasurer are required to complete

  • 26 to 27 Recognized Student Organization (RSO) Officer Training
  • Decisions: Alcohol and Other Drugs Course
  • Hazing Prevention Training

The University Advisor is required to complete:
