​​​​​​Student Housing and Residence Hall Association (RHA) invites you to Housewarming!

Housewarming is an early move-in experience designed to help eligible residents acclimate and integrate to CSUN and the Student Housing community. Residents will have the chance to get to know the Housing community and meet their peers while learning about the resources, tools, and services available to help them transition to college life and thrive at CSUN.

Learning Objectives

  • Self-discovery: This program will allow you to reflect on your past experiences and how they might impact your college career.
  • Community building: Housewarming provides an opportunity to build relationships and develop a sense of belonging.
  • Embracing transition: You will be given the tools to overcome challenges and thrive in your academic and personal endeavors.
  • Diversity: We pride ourselves on intersecting identities to promote a respectful, inclusive and diverse atmosphere.

Wednesday August 19:

  • Move-In Day - Move-in instructions, including assigned move-in times, will be emailed to residents prior to move-in day.
  • The day will include a parent information session and conclude with a Family BBQ, where students can connect with their Resident Advisors and meet Student Housing professional staff.      

Thursday August 20:

  • As part of the Housewarming experience, residents will attend New Student Orientation (NSO).
  • Please register for NSO on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
  • The day will conclude with an outdoor movie night on our Housing Sports Lawn.

Friday August 21:

  • Residents will participate in a variety of group activities, including a high ropes course, a housing scavenger hunt, Community Center Mini Olympics, and Housing 101 and Transfer 101 informational sessions.

What is Housewarming?

Housewarming is an early move-in experience designed to help eligible residents acclimate and integrate to CSUN and the Student Housing community. Residents will have the chance to get to know the Student Housing community while exploring the resources, tools, and services available to help them thrive at CSUN.

When is Housewarming?

Housewarming will take place from Wednesday, August 19, through Friday, August 21, 2026.

​​​​​​How do I know if I’m eligible to come to Housewarming?

All first-time freshmen living in the suites and first-time transfer students living in the Sophomore and Transfer Student Experience Themed Living Community are eligible to participate in Housewarming.

How do I register for Housewarming if I am eligible?

To register for Housewarming,

  • Please log into the Student Housing Portal with your CSUN credentials.
  • Go to the Forms Link from the menu bar
  • Click on the Housewarming Registration link under the Registration section

When is the deadline to register for Housewarming?

The deadline to register for housewarming is July 6, 2026, by 5 p.m. The first 200 students to register will receive a limited-edition CSUN Student Housing Blanket.

Please note that registering for Housewarming does not mean that you are approved and confirmed until payment has been made. You will receive an email confirmation approving your registration once payment has been received and processed.

How much does Housewarming Cost and When is Payment Deadline?

Housewarming move-in fee is $60. The payment deadline is July 10, 2026.

When is move-in for Housewarming?

The Housewarming 2026 move-in date is Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

What are the move-in instructions?

Additional move-in instructions, including assigned move-in times, will be emailed to residents prior to move-in day.

Absolutely! At CSUN Student Housing, we have professional staff interpreters who can be present if services are needed.

Is the New Student Orientation part of Housewarming?

Yes, as part of Housewarming experience, residents will be escorted to New Student Orientation. Please do not register for any other New Student Orientation date. For further information about NSO please visit their website

 

New Student Convocation is an annual celebration of learning that marks the official start of the academic year for all new freshmen, transfer students, and international students. Students receive a welcome from the President, administration, and the entire campus community—inviting students to begin their academic journey at CSUN with pride, purpose, and a shared commitment to learning.

Following the celebration, students can attend a pep rally featuring food, games, and resource booths hosted by various campus departments.
