The Ten Commandments of Accessibility

Description
In an obscure corner of American disability law, you’ll find ten fundamental principles to every digital experience that is ever built. These ten principles describe the core use cases for digital accessibility. They’re written in a way that could apply to all digital products, including gaming, kiosks, mobile apps, and VR. In fact, these “Ten Commandments” are perhaps the most future-proof documentation written about accessibility. Spoiler: buried in the CVAA - otherwise known as the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act - is a section that defines what it means to be accessible. Titled Performance Objectives, the section spells out ten core ways a digital product should be operable: without vision, without hearing, or with limited reach and strength, to name just a few. In this session, we’ll cover those ten use cases in detail and how they’re the foundation of inclusive design.
