We are proud that the Michael D. Eisner College of Education remains one of the largest Colleges of Education in the CSU system, providing to our surrounding communities hundreds of outstanding new professionals in the fields of education, counseling, administration, and Deaf Studies. The Eisner College engages in transformative education and initiatives that put into practice our commitment to social justice, equity, access, and inclusion, and supporting the social-emotional well-being of university, school, and community members. I am grateful to our talented faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners, all instrumental in ensuring the excellence of our educational programs and community-serving centers. We have much to celebrate as we send forth our students to make positive contributions to our world!

Office of Special Education Programs Awards Grant to Project REACH IT

Project REACH IT OSEP

Congratulations to Sami Toews and Fatmana Deniz with Amy Hanreddy for winning an OSEP grant for Project REACH IT. Project REACH IT has four goals: 1) recruit, retain, and increase the percentage of multilingual, racially and ethnically diverse teachers to address the shortage of special educators prepared to serve students with high intensity needs; 2) prepare scholars to develop leadership skills to promote access and serve students with high-intensity needs within inclusive settings; 3) prepare skilled teachers to implement individualized, evidence-based, and culturally sustaining practices to support diverse students with high-intensity needs and their families; and 4) prepare scholars who are self-determined reflective teachers through practice, feedback, and reflection and who foster self-determination skills in students with high-intensity needs. Education Grad Student Wins Top Scholarship from CSU Trustees

College of Education student Tania Parker (Master of Arts in Early Childhood Educational Psychology) was awarded the 2023 Outstanding Graduating Senior Award at the Honors Convocation by the CSU Trustees. This award is given to students who demonstrate superior academic performance and personal accomplishments, as well as financial need. Congratulations, Tania! Read more

Deaf Studies Hosts New Student Orientation

The Department of Deaf Studies was excited to host the very first New Student Orientation Event for incoming first time freshman and transfer students on August 22, 2023. This event gave students the opportunity to meet Deaf Studies Faculty and Staff as well as learn about the department and what to expect as new students at CSUN. The orientation included an amazing alumni panel, students were able to take a tour of the University Library and attended presentations on advisement, career pathways and best research practices to have a successful journey here at CSUN!
