Spring Events Update

This page covers information specifically related to the University Student Union facilities. Additional information regarding other campus facilities is currently being developed by the Matador Involvement Center.

This page will be updated frequently when new information becomes available.

This information is current as of Wednesday, March 2, 2022

Information will be updated and revised in accordance with evolving health and safety guidelines.

We are committed to providing mitigation practices that promote the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and campus community. After re-evaluating current COVID protocols, and with guidance from the Vice President for Student Affairs at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), USU reservations will be implementing the following protocols beginning Monday, March 7, 2022:

  1. Capacities
    • If events and activities planned indoor or outdoor are attended primarily by students and include some attendance by campus employees, capacity will be limited to 75% with distancing encouraged.
  2. Safety Protocols
    • Face coverings/masks required at all times indoors except when actively eating or drinking.
    • Face coverings/masks not required when outdoors.
    • Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes will be provided in every meeting room and entry into buildings.
    • Must be in compliance with the CSU vaccination policy and have completed the self-certification process.
    • Health screening must be completed before coming to campus and shown to event organizer at entry to the event.
  3. Food/Drink
    • Indoors
      • Pre-packaged, individually wrapped or boxed portions of food and beverage can be consumed indoors.
      • Individuals must maintain some physical distancing while eating.
      • CSUN employees must maintain 6 feet distancing.
    • Outdoors
      • Food and beverage allowed.
      • Individuals must maintain some physical distance while eating.

Event organizers are encouraged to continue to assess, based on current conditions, whether to adjust, postpone, cancel, and reduce the number of attendees to accommodate capacity guidelines and distancing during the Spring 2022 semester. We encourage the continued use of remote technologies for meetings, lectures, and events to provide a safer environment for all members of our community. The USU will continue to implement, update, and revise this information as public health officials, state and local agencies, and University officials continue to publish new guidance.

All submitted reservations are being reviewed to ensure the guidelines stated above are met. If adjustments need to be made in order to meet protocols, you will be contacted to discuss solutions. We encourage you to also review any requests you have submitted through Mazevo and determine if you need to adjust or cancel.

We thank you for your understanding during this challenging time and apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.
