Postdoctoral Fellow Position

Two postdoctoral fellow  positions in theoretical/computational condensed matter physics are available in the research group of Prof. Donna Sheng at California State University Northridge. The position is initially  for one year, beginning the summer of 2021 or earlier, with a possible one-year extension. Candidates  with experiences of studying strongly correlated systems, fractional quantum Hall effects, topological quantum materials, and quantum spin liquids are encouraged to apply. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D in physics. Experiences  with developing numerical (including density matrix renormalization group, tensor network, and exact diagonalization) methods are highly preferred.  Applicants should provide a Curriculum Vita that includes a list of publications and a statement of research interest. We anticipate hiring one or more temporary faculty for the 2021/22 academic year to teach introductory physics and astronomy courses.   1. A letter to the Chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy indicating an interest in working as a temporary faculty in the department. The letter should also address the applicant's interest in teaching lecture classes, laboratory classes, in Physics and/or in Astronomy.
  2. A complete resume showing educational background, prior teaching experience, evidence of scholarship, and/or related professional experience.
  3. Two letters of recommendation and three additional references from employers or previous departments at which you have taught similar classes.

Applicants with a Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy are preferred. Ph.D. candidates just about to graduate are also encouraged.
