B.M. Percussion
The Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion at CSUN is designed for those who want to pursue a career as a performer as their main goal. We take great pride in the fact that we are located in the greater Los Angeles area, giving students exposure and real-life connections to some of the most culturally and musically diverse performing ensembles and professional musicians that our country has to offer!
The Bachelor of Music degree in percussion performance is focused in the area of classical music but usually includes exposure to world music styles as well. As a student at CSUN, you will be able to consult with the percussion area as to your main passion as a percussionist.
If you prefer to pursue a career in the jazz/popular music idiom, you should be sure to sign up for an audition in the area of "Drums-Jazz" or "Drums-Commercial". The commercial music audition option is only available to Music Industry majors at this time. To enter the B.M. program in percussion, you must pass an entry audition. We have detailed information about audition requirements on our audition page.
If you are not interested in pursuing a B.M. in performance, you may want to consider our B.A. programs in percussion that include Music Education, Music Industry and Music Therapy. If you choose one of these options, you would still need to pass a playing audition with the percussion faculty and you need to interview with the option area that you choose.
