CSUN Scholarship Opportunity for Staff or Administrator - July 31st Application Deadline for Jolene Koester Presidential Scholarship

In honor of President Jolene Koester’s 11-year Legacy of Leadership at California State University, Northridge, the Jolene Koester Presidential Scholarship, funded entirely by private philanthropic support, is awarded annually to a member, or members, of the University staff or administration pursuing a degree in any field of study at CSUN, and is intended to cover costs exceeding the amount of any fee waivers in effect. The applicant must enroll in at least three units each semester during the academic year. Students taking courses through the Tseng College are eligible. The application deadline for the 2022-2023 scholarships is July 31, 2022.

SRC Offering American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certification in One Day| August 6

American Red Cross CPR, AED and First Aid Training

Get American Red Cross Certified for CPR, AED and First Aid in Only One Day

Would you like to learn true lifesaving skills in just one day? The Student Recreation Center of the University Student Union (USU) is offering in-person classes throughout the semester to get you certified in CPR, AED and First Aid. For just $59 per person, you’ll receive hands-on training that will prepare you to recognize and respond appropriately to a variety of cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. This program will teach the skills that you need to know to provide immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.

All American Red Cross classes will be held on select Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the USU. Each class is limited to 20 participants. You’ll be provided with workshop equipment including manikins, AEDs (automated external defibrillators), disposable gloves and masks in person.

  • Saturday, Aug 6: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Register through Saturday, Aug 6 at 9 a.m.)
    Thousand Oaks Room (2nd Floor), Southwest Addition, University Student Union

No prerequisites are required

Registration and Participation

  1. Register for your chosen virtual class session on the SRC Portal or at the SRC Front Desk. 
    Upon registration, you will receive a mandatory health screening form.
  2. Once registered for the class, complete your CSUN Health Screening prior to arriving on campus.

Certification Requirements

  • Participate in all course activities
  • Demonstrate competency in all required skills
  • Successfully participate in an end-of-course scenario(s)

All CPR, AED and First Aid certifications are valid for 2 years from the date of your course completion.

Find out more about the new L2L (Language to Literacy) Program beginning fall 2022: This program is specifically designed to promote healthy literacy development in 3 and 4 year old children, provide developmentally appropriate and fun experiences in STEAM, and to prepare them for successful transition to elementary school.
