Deaf Studies Programs

CSUN is one of few institutions in the nation that offers a comprehensive undergraduate program in the area of Deaf Studies and has long been acknowledged as a leader in providing quality education in a variety of Deaf-related fields.  The Deaf Studies major at CSUN provides appropriate exposure and preparation to students for professional careers as sign language interpreters, sign language instructors, teachers, counselors, government specialists, audiologists, speech pathologists, program administrators, community service personnel, and many other Deaf-related vocations.

The Deaf Studies Department believes in "learning by doing" and offers opportunities for site observations, practicum and internship experiences.  Through LINCS, data have been collected on field assignments and summarized.  The data identify CSUN's school and district partners in the preparation of Deaf studies majors.
