With a focus on literacy as a social justice issue, Renee Ziolkowska (Department of Elementary Education), and Vanessa Goodwin, Rachel Friedman Narr and Sue Sears (Department of Special Education) are working with faculty from UCLA, and other CSU campuses in the Los Angeles basin, to strengthen educational support for diverse students with a wide range of learning needs, including those with dyslexia. We are thrilled to share the good news that the Eisner Foundation board has approved a general operating grant in the amount of $400,000 over two years to CSUN for the Michael D. Eisner College of Education. This is a renewal of the 2-year support we received from the Eisner Foundation which ended in December, 2021. This funding is especially welcomed with the significant increase in student enrollment in our college credential programs as we work to meet the teacher shortage and diversify the teacher and other school-based workforce while dealing with budget cuts with the pandemic.
