ABOUT U-RISE

Interested students must be in the last two years of their degree program and plan on pursuing a graduate program leading to the Ph.D. in the basic biomedical sciences are encouraged to apply. Students in the U-RISE program will participate in a variety of skill-building activities that are designed to make them more competitive for entry into graduate programs. Activities include completing a long-term research project (e.g. over 4 semesters and a summer leading to a senior thesis), attending and presenting at scientific conferences, and participating in professional development workshops.

Requirements:

 •Under-served in the sciences according to NIH or Pell eligible

 •US citizen or permanent resident

 •Professional goal is to pursue a Ph.D. in a biomedical discipline

 •GPA >3.0

 •4 semesters remaining before graduation

 •Full-time student status (12u)

• Department of Health Sciences

• Department of Psychology

Bridges Application

 ABOUT BRIDGES TO THE PH.D.

 To meet the minimum qualifications you must be accepted into a MS/MA program in one of the following Biology, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Physics/Astronomy, Psychology, Mathematics, Health Sciences or Nutrition and Dietetics.

Cohorts will be required to work with a program-approved mentor.  A list of Bridges mentors can be found here:https://www.csun.edu/urise-bridges/current-u-risebridges-mentors

Face to Face Orientation will begin July 29, 2024
