Clearing Browser Cache
If you're experiencing errors on the CSUN Portal, Canvas, or other websites, clearing your browser cache may resolve the issue. It's a quick and easy process that can fix common loading problems.
If the problems persist after clearing your cache, your browser may need an update. Visit BROWSERIS.COM for more information about your browser and device.
TIP: Keyboard shortcuts are fastest; full mouse/trackpad steps are also below.
Note: If you want to remain signed in to sites, avoid clearing cookies. Only clear the cache when possible.
Quick keyboard:
Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac). Select Cached images and files → choose Time range (All time for a full clear) → Clear data.
Mouse/touch path:

Click Menu (three dots) in the top-right.

Hover over More tools, then click Clear browsing data…

In the Basic tab, select Cached images and files.

Choose a Time range (All time for a full clear).

Click Delete Data.

Quick keyboard:
Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac). Select Cached images and files → choose Time range (All time for a full clear) → Clear now.
Mouse/touch path:

Click Menu (three dots) in the top-right → Settings.

Select Privacy, search, and services.
-
Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.

Set Time range and check Cached images and files.
-
Click Clear now.

Quick keyboard:
Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac). In Clear Recent History, check Cache → set Time range (All time for a full clear) → OK.
Mouse/touch path:

Click Menu (three lines) in the top-right → Settings.

Select Privacy & Security.

Under Cookies and Site Data, click Clear Data…

Check Cached Web Content (uncheck Cookies if you want to stay signed in).

Click Clear.

Quick keyboard:
Press Option+Cmd+E to Empty Caches (works when the Develop menu is enabled).
Mouse/touch path:

Open Safari.
-
Click Safari → Settings (or Preferences on older macOS).

Go to Advanced and check Show Develop menu in menu bar.

From the menu bar, click Develop → Empty Caches.

Optional (more thorough and signs you out): Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data… → Remove All.

To clear cache/cookies select Clear History.


Google Chrome — Android

Open Chrome app.

Tap Menu (three dots) → History → Clear browsing data.

Choose Time range (All time for a full clear).

Check Cached images and files.
-
Tap Clear data.
Safari — iPhone/iPad (iOS/iPadOS)

Open the Settings app.
-
Scroll down and tap Safari.
-
Tap Clear History and Website Data → Clear History and Data to confirm.
Mozilla Firefox — Android

Open Firefox app.
-
Tap Menu (three dots) → Settings → Delete browsing data.

Check Cache.
-
Tap Delete browsing data.
