iPad 101: The Basics - iOS 4.3

Step 1: Install iTunes and get your iPad ready.

Out of the box, the iPad will show an iTunes and cable image (Fig. 1). itunes and cableIn order to get past this stage, you will need to connect it to iTunes.

  • If you do not already have iTunes installed, you will need to obtain it from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/. Download and install iTunes using your preferred settings. Once done, launch it.
  • Connect your iPad to your computer using the provided USB cable. Your iPad may beep. After a minute or two, your iPad should display the Raindrop screen (Fig. 2).raindrop screen
  • At this point, you will not need to do anything else with iTunes. Disconnect your iPad from your computer by first clicking on the eject button under Devices (Fig. 3). eject from itunes Then, disconnect the iPad from the USB cable. You can now close the iTunes application.

Once you see the raindrop screen (Fig. 2) on the iPad, use your finger to swipe (follow the direction of the arrow) over the “slide to unlock” portion (Fig. 4) of the screen. slide to unlock

 

You should now be at the default iPad screen (Fig. 5).default ipad screen
