Introduction

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, together with other federal and state laws, protects all people from sexual harassment, violence and discrimination on the basis of gender or sexual orientation.

In an effort to promote a culture of respect on campus, all CSUN students — and all college students in the United States — must complete a sexual misconduct and violence awareness and prevention education program. At CSUN this training is an online, interactive, and self-paced training. While this training does include testimonials, there are opportunities for people who have experienced similar trauma to black out the video and mute the stories until they are complete.

  • New students, undergraduate and graduate, take a longer, initial course once only and complete it before enrolling in their first-semester classes. Course title: “Sexual Violence Prevention”

  • Continuing students, undergraduate and graduate, take a short refresher course every year thereafter and complete it before enrolling in fall classes. Course title: “Bystander Intervention (Refresher)”

All students who are required to take the training will have a “Title IX” registration hold that prevents enrollment in classes. Once the training is completed, the hold will be removed within 24 hours.

To learn more about Accessing the Title IX Training, please see the instructions listed here
