CalPERS Board of Administration Election

You will be receiving your ballot package from CalPERS for the 2018 Member-at-Large Board Election. The voting deadline is October 1.

The CalPERS Board of Administration is responsible for the management and control of CalPERS. Their decisions directly impact your health care premiums contract with CalPERS for health benefits, your employer’s contribution rates to your CalPERS pension, and where your pension dollars are invested.

Now is your opportunity to help select the candidate who will best represent your views on the Board for the next four years.

Ballots will be mailed August 31, and candidate statements will be available on the Board Elections page of the CalPERS website. A candidate forum will be held September 5, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the CalPERS Auditorium, 400 P Street, Sacramento. You can watch a live webcast of the forum on the CalPERS Website, or attend in person.

Health Care Dependent Re-Verification Requirement

Dependent Re-Verification (DRV) is the process of re-verifying the eligibility of your spouse, domestic partner, children, stepchildren, and domestic partner children (family members) enrolled for state health and dental benefits. Government Code section 22843.1 mandates re-verifying the eligibility of your family members. Government Code section 22959 authorizes extending this review to your family members enrolled for dental benefits.

The eligibility of your family members will be re-verified once every three years. The re-verification period is based on your birth month. Employees born during the following months are required to re-verify family members during 2018:  April, July, and/or October.

For those employees with birthdays in October, CalPERS mailed you a letter in July 2018 explaining the process and the documentation required to maintain health coverage for your dependents. Please read and ensure Human Resources has your documents prior to October 1, 2018 in order for your dependent(s) to continue receiving health coverage and avoid cancellation on 11/1/2018.

For more information visit the following page: Health Care Dependent Re-Verification
