Community Member Involvement

As a community member, should you witness a need to research a health issue in your community, the HERE Center can be your ally. Community members can connect with the HERE Center through the following:

Attend the HERE Center’s public events

The HERE Center offers public events that anyone can attend including speakers, workshops, and conferences around health equity, research, and collaboration. We also share and support events hosted by our community and faculty partners.

Include your voice in our community health stories!

As a part of Map SFV (Mapping Health Hazards in the San Fernando Valley), we are gathering stories of community triumph or discrimination, of intentional kindness or structural racism that continue to feed or disrupt our health and healthcare systems.

Participate in Charlas (Community Conversations)

  • A virtual community gathering where community members and academic researchers come together and talk about local health issues in the neighborhoods.
  • Aims to listen to community concerns, promote awareness about local issues, build trust and community engagement in research.
  • A collaborative project with Visión y Compromiso promotoras.
