Our Team

The Center employees 5 full-time staff including the director,  two project managers and 2 GIS analysts. Personnel also include a graphics manager/cartographer, a technical manager and various faculty advisors, including the Associate Director Dr. Regan Maas.  Most importantly, our interns, research assistants and graduate research assistants represent students and recent graduates from both the local area and international community.

Bio
Danielle Bram is Director of the Center for Geospatial Science and Technology at CSU, Northridge (CSUN) and the CSUN Coordinator for the International Spatial Technology and Research Lab. She is a GIS professional and project manager with over 25 years of experience in the higher education, nonprofit and public agency sectors. Her applied research interests and experience cover a variety of topics such as water resources, vulnerable population modelling, municipal GIS, as well as community outreach and engagement. Danielle has been Principal Investigator on over 40 projects and also holds a faculty lecturer position at CSUN.

Bio
Dr. Regan Maas is Professor and Chair of Geography and Environmental Studies, as well as Associate Director of the Center for Geospatial Science and Technology. She has over twenty years of experience working in the geospatial industry and teaching in the geospatial sciences, and is well-versed in the myriad spatial analysis and visualization techniques relevant to geography, especially in areas of neighborhood and residential dynamics, health research, and spatial demography. Her research focuses on integrating GIS and geospatial science into public health and minority health disparities research and explores the various relationships between demographic characteristics, health outcomes and the environment at the neighborhood level across the urban landscape. Dr. Maas has a BS in biology from the University of Iowa, a BS in psychology from Iowa State University, an MA in geography from California State University Northridge, and a PhD in geography from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Joel Osuna-Williams has worked at the Center for Geospatial Science and Technology at CSU, Northridge for 15 years. He is currently a project manager helping to lead the work done on hydrographic data production for California as well as projects focused on renewable and conventional energy.

Charidy Paige is a skilled project manager and GIS professional with a strong academic background and extensive experience in various sectors, including higher education, land use planning, and retail. Currently a Ph.D. candidate in Information Systems and Technology at Claremont Graduate University, she specializes in Geographic Information Systems. Charidy also holds a Master of Public Administration from Jacksonville State University and a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama. Professionally, Charidy has excelled in roles such as Project Manager at GISinc, a GIS consulting company, and Space Optimization Project Manager at Lululemon. She has a proven track record of delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget, while also providing mentorship and GIS consultation. In addition to her professional pursuits, Charidy is passionate about traveling and loves spending time with her mini-golden doodle puppy, Eli.

Bio
Kevin Ryan graduated CSUN ('17) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography emphasizing in Geographic Information Systems/Science. His interests within GIS include demography, hydrography, general data management, quality assurance and analysis, as well as mapping local experiences for professional or personal uses. Data collection, management, analysis, and visualization skills have been developed on these notable projects with CGST: National Hydrography Dataset's (NHD) numerous iterations of hydro data mapping, Bureau of Ocean Energy & Management's (BOEM) geologic and geophysical data mapping & managing, and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health's (LADPH) vulnerability mapping effort via vector-borne diseases.

Bio
Nora Carmody is a GIS Analyst at the Center for Geospatial Science and Technology (CGST) at CSU, Northridge. She graduated from the University of Denver with a B.S. in Geographic Information Science then completed two terms as a project lead with the NASA DEVELOP National Program. At CGST, Nora has worked on numerous projects where she's helped build web maps and applications, geodatabases, surveys, and technical documentation. She works closely with CGST's research assistants to help CGST produce high quality work in a time-efficient manner. Notable projects she's been a part of include Elevation Derived Hydrography, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Sea Floor Mapping, and Mapping Religion in Los Angeles.

Bio
Andy Garcia is a GIS Technician at the Center for Geospatial Science and Technology on the CSUN campus. With a Bachelor’s in Geology and a Master’s in GIS, he enjoys working on spatial problems and finding solutions to them. At CGST, Andy has worked on multiple projects but with a larger focus on hydrography related projects including helping develop CGST’s Elevation Derived Hydrography project. This involves finding technical solutions to problems that come up, conducting research on new methods, and working with CGST’s interns and research assistants to help them get trained on active projects and manage assignments they need to complete. Outside of CGST, he is always ready to talk about the Lakers, your favorite video games, or some new indie artist that he’s never heard of and might want to check out. Especially if they’re going to be touring in LA anytime soon and have a vinyl record he can add to his collection.
