Five New Student Leaders Elected to CSUN’s University Student Union Board of Directors

April 28, 2021

FOR RELEASE ON APRIL 28

Northridge — The University Student Union (USU) invites CSUN students to learn more about the five student leaders elected to serve two-year terms on the USU Board of Directors (BOD). Join us in welcoming new Board members Karina Perez, Ayana Galves, Christian Lipton, Bryant Garcia and Jassmine Guerrero as they join our mission to create student connections and community on campus.

“The USU understands how important it is to have CSUN students leading our Board of Directors, especially with our core goal of creating a sense of belonging for every student,” said Emery Hernandez, USU’s administrative support coordinator. “These elected students will advocate for programs and services intended to enhance the college experience for every Matador and positively impact the CSUN community.”

The USU Board of Directors has an impressive track record of bringing popular student destinations to CSUN. For nearly a decade, the Board has been the driving force behind the creation of the Student Recreation Center, Veterans Resource Center, Pride Center,
Oasis Wellness Center and the recent successful student referendum to build the planned
New Heart of Campus. This year, the Board responded to the pandemic-related impacts on CSUN students by providing COVID-relief packages to those that requested the support. Even during this unprecedented time, the USU is fully committed to helping Matadors thrive.

Each of the new directors was elected to serve as student representative from 2021– 2023. Complete election results and additional information about the directors may be found on the USU website at www.csun.edu/usu/boardofdirectors/elections.
