Steel Bridge is an annual competition currently held by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). Universities from across the country participate every year in their respective regions to which a different scenario is presented for students to apply the knowledge gained through their academic careers in order to satisfy the required design specifications. Competitors are ranked on the basis of structural efficiency and construction economy. This competition is entirely student-based which means students will design, fabricate, and construct the bridge themselves. The purpose of Steel Bridge is for student members to develop skills in leadership and teamwork while also providing a fun way to interact with peers.

The American Society of Civil Engineers at California State University, Northridge is a student chapter that exposes the members to various networking, volunteering, internship, and scholarship opportunities. Active members are also involved in one of the four special projects, Concrete Canoe, and Geowall, where they gain valuable experience and learn new concepts and skills.

As described by CMAA, Construction Management is a professional service that applies effective management techniques to the planning, design, and construction of a project from inception to completion for the purpose of controlling time, cost and quality. Construction Management is a discipline and management system specifically created to promote the successful execution of capital projects for owners. These projects can be highly complex. Few owners maintain the staff resources necessary to pay close, continuing attention to every detail–yet these details can “make or break” a project.

CSUN Aeronautics is a personal and professional development club that teaches students the fundamentals of aerospace engineering, aircraft manufacturing (yes you'll get to work on airplanes), and fundamental leadership skills. We host workshops and panels with industry professionals and sponsors, like Northrop Grumman, to teach students about the aerospace industry and improve on fundamental professional skills valuable in any work environment. We also work closely with Northrop Grumman to advertise opportunities like internship for CSUN students. Our learning experience goes hand in hand with an international competition where our members design and manufacture an aircraft starting from a conceptual idea, to the drawing board, to the lab and finally to the sky.

The purpose of the Matador Pedalsports organization is to educate and familiarize students and members of the campus community with the principles of building Human Powered Vehicles (HPVs) which are engineered for competitive events as well as sustainable, everyday commuting. Technical analysis and engineering sciences are emphasized in conjunction with ergonomics and practicality. The club also aims to extract talent from the student body on campus for representation at regional and national Human Powered Vehicle Competitions.

Layer 8 Computer Security Club focuses on educating our members and community in all aspects of security relating to technology and information. Tau Beta Pi is the honor society representing the entire engineering profession. Being the second oldest honor society, it was founded in 1885 at Lehigh University by Dr. Edward H. Williams Jr. to recognize students of distinguished scholarship and exemplary character. The Society has grown into an organization of over 253 collegiate chapters and 40 active alumnus chapters across 16 regions of the United States. Currently, there are more than 500,000 members. Tau Beta Pi has a world-wide reputation because of its high standards for membership. Among its members are nine winners of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, 12 Nobel laureates, 25 recipients of the National Medal of Technology, 24 honorees in the National Inventors Hall of Fame, 41 astronauts, 65 recipients of the National Medal of Science, hundreds of members of the National Academy of Engineering, hundreds of corporate CEOs, and even a few Olympic athletes and NFL football players. Thousands of members have received top awards in their national engineering societies. Tau Bates are known to be leaders in their profession. CSUN's California Kappa (CA-K) chapter was founded in 1968. As of the 2016 - 2017 academic year, has initiated over 1900 members. The CA-K chapter is part of district 16 which represents Southern California and Southern Nevada.

The Matabots are a collective group of motivated individuals who come from a variety of educational backgrounds all with a common interest in mind: love for science and engineering. Our main purpose is design, program, and prepare robots that will compete in the World VEX U Robotics competition. Along this path, we also encourage others within our surrounding community to pursue similar goals by helping them set up robotics clubs and teaching them the fundamentals of engineering and science. The FAANG Coding Club helps students in any major and any skill level, splitting lectures into two different meeting times. In the first meeting, we teach beginners the basics of programming using Java, such as strings, arrays, methods and linked lists. In the second meeting, we explain how to solve coding questions similar to those asked in coding interviews and go over computer science topics such as binary trees and doubly linked lists.
