Getting Corporate Sponsorships Is your nonprofit getting its fair share of corporate sponsorship funding? IEG, which tracks sponsorships, estimates that businesses will spend $22.4 billion on them in 2016. Nonprofits often approach corporations for financial support of fundraising and other events, through sponsorships from either the marketing/sales or in-house philanthropy sides. But many don't know how to approach a potential sponsor, prepare a proposal and persuade a sponsor to sign on.  What are the best practices for doing so, and what are some common mistakes nonprofit leaders make? How can nonprofits identify what will be truly appealing to a corporation as part of a sponsorship proposal? These and other questions will be handled in a workshop led by Tony DeMaio, CEO of BigMediaUSA, which helps nonprofits develop and disseminate podcasts about their work and their impact in the community. He was previously director of development for Galpin Motors and Galpin Ford, the largest Ford dealership in the world, and a successful entrepreneur in the sports equipment field. The workshop is part of Valley Nonprofit Resources' ongoing Philanthropic Initiative. The free workshop will be held from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Strength United in Van Nuys. F
