What happens after I apply to the ACT Program?

You will receive emails from ACT and from the Credential office about the status of your application. Once all three parts are submitted you will be asked to schedule an interview with ACT staff. The interview is designed to take about an hour. We normally do this via Zoom. (Zoom is easy to use if you have a computer with a microphone or even a cell phone). There is also a short writing assignment that we will ask you to do after the interview.

What criteria are used in evaluating applicants to the ACT Program?

Applicants to the ACT Program must meet the requirements for admission to the Credential Program (Applicants who are missing one element of the criteria may be considered for Exceptional Admission).

In addition to the basic requirements, applicants are evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to complete an intensive accelerated program of study
  • Motivation to teach in high-need schools
  • Fitness to the program
