Department of Social Work

We are proud to announce that the Department of Social Work has received our initial accreditation from CSWE from 2004-05 to 2012.

I am pleased that you have chosen to explore a professional graduate education in social work at California State University, Northridge. The need for caring, knowledgeable, and innovative social workers is greater than ever, not only to assure that people have access to personal care services but also to help build caring, supportive communities. Northridge's new MSW program is a distinct program; an urban family strengths-based practice model. Our program is built on a learning community culture, our educational program provides core knowledge and practice skills necessary to work directly with individuals, urban families and groups. We believe that Education, Research and Service for the Community are inter-related and we see them as mutually enhancing commitments.
