March 30 COVID-19 Update: Laptop Loaner Program Extended, Computer Labs Closing

Dear CSUN Students:

We are pleased to announce the expansion of the Laptop Loaner Program for currently enrolled CSUN students and the implementation of a new distribution model. The program provides technology to students who are without a computer so that they may continue their education uninterrupted. The loaning of laptops further supports our on-going physical distancing efforts, based upon evolving evidence and guidance, by decreasing the possibility of COVID-19 transmission in campus-based computer labs.

Consistent with the implementation of the Laptop Loaner Program, the University Student Union computer lab has closed, and the Oviatt Library computer lab will close effective 5 p.m., Monday, March 30.

Starting Wednesday, April 1, after the César Chávez holiday, a supply of laptops will be available for distribution at the CSUN Campus Store (Bookstore) at the Campus Store Complex, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Prior to visiting the Campus Store in order to facilitate physical distancing, please log into the myNorthridge portal, available on multiple devices including mobile phones and tablets. From the Services tab of the myNorthridge portal, go to the “Student Services” section and click on “Laptop Loaner Request Form” link to submit your online reservation form. The devices will be checked out at no cost to current students (student ID required) for the remainder of the spring semester. Parking is available in the F2 parking lot, and the metered parking will be waived. Physical distancing of six-feet or more will be followed at all times. In addition, Information Technology has collected a number of resources for internet connectivity for users who do not have it.

Please continue to practice physical distancing of six feet apart or more in your own lives, thoroughly wash your hands, and follow other recommended hygiene protocols.
