SUN Program

Welcome to our College of Education Self-care Initiative, informally called Self-care for U at Northridge, the SUN Program.

It is so wonderful that you are considering self-care as an important way to care for yourself and keep balance and health in your life. Self-care means taking responsibility for yourself to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle at work and in your personal world through individually determined, proactive activities. You are at your best when you attend to yourself in equal measure to others in day-to-day living!

I continue to feel abundantly grateful for the amazing work that you all are doing in this time of crisis and uncertainty. I am also grateful to the self-care providers at CSUN who have come together as a community to share resources in support of all of us staying healthy and well.  These colleagues are offering great information and activities on mindfulness, nutrition, sustainability, workshops on wellbeing, reading, yoga, and opportunities to stay socially engaged with others. There even is a downloadable, printable stress-relieving coloring book available!  Read more

Welcome to the virtual world of self-care! We must continue to pay attention to our well-being as staff, caretakers, and educators as we challenge ourselves to switch to virtual reality,  engage in helping so many others, and live with the unknown.  Josh Einhorn has identified a number of excellent resources to promote self-care through virtual means below. My gratitude goes to Josh and all of you as we take care of each other and ourselves right now. Read more

COE Self-Care Activities Spring 2020 - Week 9

March 16, 2020

Sun

What an unbelievable week we have been through dealing with the ever expanding impact of the corona virus. Unfortunately, this stressful crisis (yes we are in a crisis!) will likely continue for some time. Never have we needed to attend more to our own well-being and those around us. In addition to following the health precautions shared with the public already, please pay attention to yourselves and how you are doing physically and emotionally as staff, caretakers, and educators who are helping so many others during this challenging time. Make time to take care of yourselves. The College of Education self-care program will be offered virtually for the remainder of the Spring Semester. Read more
