Self-care and a Coast to Coast Wellness Program

November 30, 2020

Dear COE community,

Doesn’t it feel good to be coming off of a lovely 4 day weekend, hopefully full of good food, rest, and connection with loved ones, even if it was not possible for most of us to travel anywhere? But wait, we CAN travel, even if it’s virtually, with the new CSU systemwide wellness program that involves a virtual coast-to-coast trip synced up to our exercise, meditation, even sleep! Check it out in the description below and consider a fun way to engage in self-care alone or with a group of friends!

And for a list of other self-care options, please see our COE self-care website for self-care resources for faculty, staff, and COE students at:

May you continue to find ways to engage in self-care that works for you!

Warmly,

Shari and Josh

Register Now for the New CSU Systemwide Wellness Challenge!

We’ve heard from many employees that COVID-19 has not just impacted the way they work, but also their overall health and well-being.  We hear you.  And we challenge you to join us in putting on your bell-bottoms, grabbing your favorite 8-track tapes, and packing the Polaroid for a fun-filled, nostalgic journey to some of America’s most popular out-of-the-way places.

We encourage everyone to take advantage of the first-ever CSU systemwide wellness challenge, which will allow you to not only compete (healthy competition!) with colleagues at your own campus but with colleagues at all 23 campuses and the Chancellor’s Office!  This program supplements any wellness initiatives specific to your campus and is intended to bring us together as one university-wide family to focus on our health and wellness during these unique times.  This wellness challenge is hosted by Systemwide Human Resources and supported by your campus.

Starting December 28th, this 6 week virtual coast-to-coast trip will take you from east to west, stopping at amazing attractions with postcard-perfect vintage and modern images, plus awesome descriptions. Each day you’ll visit a new attraction, earning points and experiencing road signs as you record exercise minutes or steps (sleep and meditation). Just put the wireless activity tracker on in the morning, sync it with your computer or app, and your steps will automatically load to your dashboard.

You can travel this course as an individual or once you sign up, why not grab 4-5 travel companions and create a team? This friendly competition is a great way to stay motivated and focused.

There will be several virtual webinars presented by Kaiser Permanente, who is sponsoring this challenge, to talk more about the program. Please note you do not have to be a Kaiser member to participate.
