Our perception of what is real and what is unrealistic has long been influenced by the media. The same goes for sexuality and the intimate connections we build, which can lead to sexual violence and trauma. Come learn how this has yielded inaccurate perceptions of how we should react to these unfortunate and traumatic experiences.

Join Daniel Alonzo, Psy.D., Staff Psychologist at University Counseling Services to learn about Rape Trauma Syndrome and the false understanding of what an “ideal” behavior of a sexual violence survivor is and how it is perceived they should express themselves. Learn about Hypo and Hyper Sexuality and why they should not indicate whether a victim is telling the truth about their assault.
