Three Life-Changing Technologies at the 2017 Assistive Technology Conference
It’s important to create technologies that can help everyone, regardless of their age or their ability to see, hear, or move. That was the idea behind many of the technologies on display at the CSUN (California State University, Northridge) Assistive Technology Conference, held from 1 to 3 March in San Diego. Here are some of the impressive ones that caught my eye. -- The Institute

The following evening, Temirkanov and his band traverses the Southland’s freeways to Cal State Northridge’s Valley Performing Arts Center for performances of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 and Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1, with Garrick Ohlsson as soloist. The L.A. Phil, led by guest conductor Jaap van Zweden, is performing Shostakovich’s fifth this weekend, with a final performance today at Disney Hall. -- Long Beach Press-Telegram

This writer mastered the “Lock” and won a good number of $25 dance contests with a variation of the dance blended seamlessly with other moves like the “Rock Steady,” “Breakdown,” “Mash Potato,” and the “James Brown,” at college fraternity and sorority gigs at UCLA, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Northridge, the Kappa House, Sojourner Truth sorority hall, as well as the innumerable house parties (called “sets” back in the day) before street gang mayhem ruined all the fun. -- Compton Herald

Long Beach State women top CSUN in thriller, will play for championship
ANAHEIM >> It wasn’t an ending that Long Beach State women’s basketball coach Jody Wynn will be framing and hanging on the wall, but the 49ers’ ugly Big West Tournament semifinal victory over CSUN was the result her team needed. Despite not scoring in the final 4:31, the 49ers hung on and withstood a furious run from the Matadors to win 61-60. -- Pasadena Star-News
Arizona Wildcats improve to 20-1 with sweep of Northridge, Quinnipiac in LA
Bolstered by home runs, the fifth-ranked Arizona Wildcats won twice at Friday’s CSUN/LMU softball tournament. The UA topped host Cal State Northridge 10-1 in six innings, then beat Quinnipiac 7-1. -- Arizona Daily Star
