Government & Community Relations

The Office of Government and Community Relations coordinates and facilitates the university’s interactions with local, state and federal governments, as well as its relationship with neighboring communities. Our goal is to promote the CSUN mission to faculty, students and staff through meaningful contact with elected officials and organizations, and regular interaction with the community as a whole. The Government and Community Relations team also tracks legislation that impacts the university and participates in system wide advocacy efforts in both Sacramento and Washington, D.C.

As the primary liaison to the neighborhoods surrounding CSUN, Government and Community Relations has regular contact with local stakeholder organizations and serves as the liaison between the university and the surrounding community regarding issues relevant to the campus. Keeping the external community-at-large informed of university programs, providing university resources and being proactive in creating strategic partnerships throughout the region are our top priorities.

In addition, the relationship between public higher education entities and regional stakeholders is critical in regards to workforce investment and economic development.  Collaborating with the business community on advocacy efforts highlights CSUN’s intricate role in bringing talent, innovation and a highly skilled workforce to the community.
