How to Activate Set up Student Email Accountsupdated: 9/29/09
Subject: URGENT - Activating Your Gmail Account
To access your new student Gmail account you must complete the following steps starting on Monday, September 28th:
1) Change your main CSUN password (that you use to access the myNorthridge portal) prior to accessing your Gmail account for the first time. Once you complete this step, your Gmail password will be the same as your CSUN password. Instructions can be found at http://www.csun.edu/it/services/studentemail.html#access
2) Click on the “Gmail” button next to the myNorthridge Portal Login window. Do not go to google.com or gmail.com. All new email will be delivered to your @my.csun.edu Gmail account.
3) You can choose to transfer contents from your Webmail account to your new student Gmail account. Instructions can be found at http://www.csun.edu/it/services/studentemail.html#transfer
Your CSUN student email address will be updated with the new @my.csun.edu format. For example, “jane.doe.99@csun.edu” will change to “jane.doe.99@my.csun.edu.”

Once you have activated your new CSUN student Gmail account you can again have your messages transferred to the email account you really use.
