Introduction

Cal State Northridge launched a new student email system powered by Google to replace the old student Webmail system. Students' new Gmail account provides them with an updated "@my.csun.edu" email address. For example, if a student's previous email address was "jane.doe.99@csun.edu," their updated address is "jane.doe.99@my.csun.edu." Students who do not know their CSUN email address can search for their name at https://www.csun.edu/peoplefinder/ and select Student under "Search Type."

Students can access their Gmail account from the CSUN homepage by clicking on the Gmail button next to the myNorthridge Portal Login. Students should note that they cannot access their student Gmail account from Google's standard Gmail login page.

Students' Gmail account will serve as their official email account with the university which means that the university will use it for official university communications. Just as with their "@csun.edu email" account, students will be responsible for monitoring their Gmail account and the information sent to the account by the university. Students who previously used the auto-forward feature to send their CSUN Webmail to a personal email address should note that these settings were not transferred to their new Gmail account. Students will need to establish any desired email forwarding options within the Settings option of Gmail.
