Password Instructions
To access a variety of resources at CSUN you must provide a user name and a password. The sites in question include, but are not limited to the following:
- CSUN Portal: https://www.csun.edu/portal/index.fcgi
- Any readings (articles, etc.) I have posted: For example: Earnings Reports Come Under Fire
- Acct 351 Solutions: http://www.csun.edu/~hfact004/351Solution.html (you can access the web page, but the actual solution files are protected)
- Accounting 352 Solutions: http://www.csun.edu/~hfact004/352Solution.html
- WebCT:
- Library : To access information on the library web page from off-campus, for example articles on ABI-Inform or Nexis-Lexis, you will be directed to the following page: http://library.csun.edu/Find_Resources/Business/index.html
If you try to access information on any of these sites you are prompted to enter you user name and a password .
In each case your user name is your CSUN email address. For some sites it is sufficient to enter the email address without the csun.edu, others (this includes all "restricted sites", like solutions, readings) require the full address. Your CSUN email address can be entered in one of two formats: For example, in my case it can be either
hfact004@csun.edu OR heidemarie.lundblad@csun.edu
Activating your CSUN email address: If you have not used your CSUN email addres, you must first activate it. To activate your CSUN e-mail address or reset its password use the account utility page (https://www.csun.edu/account/) Go to the site and follow instructions.
Password: Enter your CSUN email password. This is the same password you used to register for your classes on the CSUN Portal.
Note that if you make a mistake or for whatever reason you are not successful trying to access a restricted site (readings, solutions) You MUST DO THE FOLLOWING: SHUT DOWN YOUR BROWSER AND START ALL OVER. If you simply try to reenter your user name and/or password, you will not succeed. The system retains the incorrect information and you will never get to the desired page. I also have found it more reliable to use the account form of the email address (e.g., hfact004@csun.edu) rather than the name email address. And remember to add the @csun.edu.
