A Workshop for College-Bound Seniors:
Do you know that you will probably have to take an English Placement Exam before you can register for your freshman English class? How well you write on that timed essay might determine whether or not you have to take a remedial English class before moving on to your regular coursework.
Did you know that while you will have to pay for a remedial course, it won't "count" toward the credits you need for graduation?
Sometimes students do poorly on the exam, not because they are poor writers, but because they don't understand the academic writing the university wants them to produce.
Be Prepared! Spend a morning with California State University, Northridge writing instructor Debbi Mercado, and learn how to be successful on this very important test. Several hours and a few dollars can help you understand what you need to do on test day and save you remedial course fees and semester hours once you arrive on campus.
