Next up are two workshops on April 20, 2024. The first workshop, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. is Daily Pages: Developing Writing Fluency and Writer Identities, with CSUN Writing Project Teacher Leader Samantha Evans. Samantha will share an engaging writing strategy for secondary classrooms adapted from The Artists Way by Julia Cameron. Daily Pages builds student writing fluency skills, asking students to vent in writing for the opening of class. It is a low-stakes writing activity that builds students' confidence as well as their self-awareness skills. All materials will be provided so that you could start using this warm-up in your classroom on Monday. The second workshop on April 20, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., is Easy Artist Statements: A Teacher's Guide to Project-Based Assessments, with CSUN Writing Project Teacher Leader Mario Rios. An Artist Statement is a declarative statement about the reasons behind the themes and motifs of one's artwork. This engaging workshop is designed to empower your students to articulate their creative intentions and interpretations of key concepts within their projects. Through a step-by-stop process, students will develop the ability to analyze their work critically and engage in self-assessment.
