Mission Statement
The University Corporation plays an essential role in the life of California State University at Northridge. As an independent auxiliary, the Corporation services the University by engaging in activities that will further its education mission, will foster excellence in its programs, and help it implement its policies.
The University Corporation, through its Board of Directors, adopts policies which are consistent with those of the University and authorizes activities deemed to be in the University's interest. The University depends upon the Corporation to execute certain activities and to provide certain services, which cannot be undertaken effectively through state procedures not supported with state funds.
The core activities of the University Corporation include the operation of the Matador Bookstore, Sponsored Projects, and certain endowments for the University, and the operation of Food Services and The University Club on campus. Surplus funds generated by Corporation activities are allocated to the University to support activities central to the University's mission, including faculty research, student projects, and curricular innovation. The University Corporation also invests resources in revenue-generating activities for the benefit of the University.
The University Corporation is committed to operations which are conducted always in an ethical, professional, and businesslike manner, and reflect the high standard of openness and honesty that befits the academic ideals of a major educational institution.
