On August 27, 2015, CSUN's annual President's Picnic welcomed students back for the fall 2015 semester and amidst the food and camaraderie, IT's "Ask a Tech" booth was also there to greet them.

IT has attended the event for the past six years, answering questions about wireless, email, the myNorthridge portal, software, and promoting services that are available to all CSUN students, faculty, at no additional cost such as myCSUNsoftware, Lynda.com, Microsoft Office, myCSUNbox, and the CSUN Mobile App. "We were able to provide information and answer questions about our services to people who walked by our table. We were also able to assist several people with more in-depth questions," said Zack Hillbruner, Director, Systems Administration & User Services.

"People were pleased to see an IT presence where they could just ask a quick question regarding services or issues they needed help with," said Ryan Conlogue, Help Center Lead. The same services can be found at the "Ask a Tech" desk located in the Oviatt Library, Learning Commons. "People seemed pleased to know that they could get help with tech problems in the library," said Ashley Velasco, a computer engineering major, currently working as a student assistant for the IT Help Center.
