Black Sheep Boy

Martin Pousson will launch his new novel-in-stories, Black Sheep Boy, at Skylight Books on Thursday, May 26, at 7:30 PM. The novel includes stories that won the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Creative Writing. Skylight Books is located in Los Feliz at 1818 N. Vermont Ave. The launch is free, open to all, and will include a reading, signing, and reception party. Read more

In the summer of 1999, Mohamed Atta defended a master’s thesis that critiqued the introduction of Western-style skyscrapers in the Middle East and called for the return of the “Islamic-Oriental city.” Using this as a departure point, Jarett Kobek’s novel ATTA offers a fictionalized psychedelic biography of Mohamed Atta that circles around a simple question: what if 9/11 was as much a matter of architectural criticism as religious terrorism? Distinguished author and CSUN alumni Tod Goldberg is back this semester to give a reading from his new novel Gangsterland and to talk with students about writing, publication and the like. Some of you may remember that Tod dropped by last semester while he was on campus promoting UC Riverside’s MFA program.
