Inaugural Harrison Leadership Award to Kinesiology Major

This year’s California State University, Northridge Freshman Convocation included a new element: the presentation of the first annual Dianne F. Harrison Leadership Award to sophomore Madalyne Handy. Created upon the occasion of President Harrison’s investiture as CSUN’s president last spring, the $5,000 award recognizes a student who has completed the freshman year for his or her leadership, as demonstrated by involvement in student government, a campus club or a student organization. Recipients must have a GPA of at least 3.0. To be presented each fall, this scholarship supports the university’s emerging student leaders, furthering a culture of leadership on campus while also building the community’s next generation of leading voices.Read the whole story in CSUN Today Read more

In the academic world of fashion, design and merchandising, tuition can be an extra concern for students already facing the difficult task of making a name for themselves in a competitive industry. However, thanks to gifts of $1,000 from both the Joy Kingston Foundation and Argyle Partners, three California State University, Northridge seniors have been awarded scholarships that will allow them to focus on their dreams of creating the next biggest fashion craze. L.A. City Council Honors CSUN's Paula Thomson as California's Top Female Professor

Paula Thomson has been a dedicated educator, psychologist, choreographer, dancer and movement coach for 25 years. The California State University, Northridge kinesiology professor has impacted her discipline through her research and changed her students’ lives. That dedication was rewarded on August 20th by Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitchell Englander, who honored Thomson with a resolution for being named one of the top female professors in California by StateStats.org.
