The Future of Accessible Communications

Date & Time
Wednesday, March 15, 2023 - 1:20 PM PST
Location
Platinum 3 (CRAWFORD TECHNOLOGIES)
Description
Many organizations are beginning to realize that providing inclusivity and accessibility in communications is the right thing to do and should be considered for every mode of communication. Many individuals are blind, have low vision, are deaf, hard of hearing, or have cognitive disabilities, and making information and communication inclusive is not only important but necessary and essential. Many organizations want a clear understanding of how accessibility can be handled, from awareness programs to complete remediation, accessibility training, and implementation. But how can this be accomplished, and how can it be done in a way that will continue to improve and evolve? It’s simple to establish a process that is flexible enough to handle whatever type of accessible communication is needed. This session is aimed at individuals, organizations, and practitioners looking at accessibility at the beginner level. We will discuss how to get started, what channels of communication to consider, how to make them inclusive, and how to maintain a culture of inclusion for everyone. We will discuss the following: •What is Accommodation? •What are the digital formats? •What are the physical accommodation formats, and how do I generate accommodation formats? •What do I require to implement this in my organization? •How does planning accommodation now look like in the future? •Why is it important to make all my enterprise communication accessible?
