38th Annual CSUN Assistive Technology Conference Has Concluded
Making Accessibility Part of Product Development
- Date & Time
-
Thursday, March 16, 2023 - 10:20 AM PST
- Location
-
Platinum 4 (AMAZON)
- Description
-
In this session we will review two methods developed in Alexa Shopping to ensure an entire organization can build products and services, which are “born accessible” for customers with disabilities.
In the first approach, we will present an organizational mechanism that can lead any feature teams to test for accessibility requirements in the product development cycle, and raise the bar over time by setting incremental targets to ensure requirements are met.
In the second approach, we will present a model aimed at inventing new products that are universally accessible (i.e., “curb-cut” solutions), by working backwards from the needs of customers with disabilities.
This is a non-technical talk designed to appeal to a broad audience.
