Native Mobile - Leading Through Complexity and Confusion
- Date & Time

Orange County 3-4
- Description

As CVS matures its digital mindset we have found that Mobile is viewed as a complex daunting challenge. From designers, stakeholders, to engineers there is collective confusion around evolving from Mobile as a companion to web, to designing for Mobile First. Native mobile is just complicated and different enough to create genuine confusion, while not different enough to force stakeholders to see the importance of dedicated Native Mobile experience in these categories, let alone the time and resources it takes to acquire that expertise.
How does an Accessibility Organization lead through this complexity? How do we turn a team of Humble Accessibility Designers into thought leaders speaking out for Native Mobile Accessibility First design thought?
Our answer:
- A focus on a deeper understanding of the fundamentals.
- Correlating AT issues to usability and design issues.
- Finishing it off with a focus on user empathy.
More simply: Accessibility and Usability are the same! By focusing on the truth of this statement we are able to utilize the strengths of our Accessibility Experts and their knowledge of users with disabilities to teach other disciplines about how their choices effect all users!
