Description
After 50 years of research and solutions in accessible media, GBH’s NCAM continues to innovate with new partners – providing accessibility consulting beyond Web site audits and WCAG training. This presentation will explore two of NCAM’s recent collaborations. NCAM and NextGen Healthcare are working to bring accessible UI to NextGen's patient and staff healthcare tools. With a wide range of software in their portfolio, NextGen is prioritizing frequent user experiences and adding accessibility review to their development process as product are refreshed. Health information is complex and patients need accurate supports. This collaboration is aiming to provide excellent access. A demonstration will be provided. The U.S. Capitol Visitor Center re-opened this year after an extensive redesign, complete with an audio-described tour developed by NCAM and GBH’s Media Access Group. NCAM collaborated with The Office of Congressional Accessibility Services to describe the architecture, furniture, documents, photos, and history presented in the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, in an audio tour intended for visitors who are blind or have low vision, and universally designed to be enjoyed by everyone. NCAM anticipates that these partnerships will lead to more opportunities for accessibility in these and other fields. Additional collaborations and accessibility projects will be mentioned during the presentation.
