Description
Today we live in the mobile era. Smartphones have reached the near-peak of what they're capable of, much like desktop computers in the early 2000s. Wearables are a natural next step in this evolutionary process. Coupled with the present revolution in AI they can help interpret the visual world around us in a much more unobtrusive, intuitive way. This talk will focus on the AI plus wearables revolution that is currently underway and one that is poised to go mainstream in the coming decade. We'll explore how an wearable-based AI tool can significantly improve independence for blind and low vision people across the world -- at home, at work and all other facets of life. AI today has gone from doing the basics like OCR, object detection or face recognition to Document Understanding, image captioning and beyond. This talk will walk listeners through these developments and how they can effectively help blind and low vision users today and in the coming years.
