Finding Assistive Technology Solutions for College Students

Date & Time
Friday, March 17, 2023 - 9:20 AM PST
Location
Orange County 1-2
Description
Learn how to develop and implement a Student-Centered Strategy of Assistive Technology for college students seeking accommodations for their classes. By taking a student through a planned course of action to determine their Technology Readiness and ability to adapt new strategies of learning using Assistive Technologies, you will determine the right size and fit to meet their needs. Understanding when and how to elevate the accommodation intervention for the student to meet their specific needs for the immediate, short-term and long-term solutions, while also aligning with the college’s resources can increase the chances of an effective solution that won’t overwhelm the student or strap the Accessibility Centers ability to serve them effectively. The right sized accommodation is the one that works for the student and is deliverable by the Accessibility Center. Learn about some common solutions for low level accommodations needs and explore innovated answers to more complex student access needs using the latest in Assistive Technology.
